Popcaan says he’s sticking with Empire, denies being managed by Shocking Vibes
Portmore Empire deejay & Vybz Kartel’s protégé, Andre “Popcaan” Sutherland has vehemently denied that he’s leaving the “Gaza” group 48 hours after rumors surfaced that he would sign with Shocking Vibes.
News broke on Thursday that the Shocking Vibes label, led by Patrick Roberts, is now the official & exclusive booking agency for Popcaan. In a radio interview, Roberts confirmed that Shocking Vibes & Popcaan talked about bookings arrangements days prior to Portmore Empire leader, Vybz Kartel’s arrest & subsequent murder charges. The deal was arranged a week following meetings between Popcaan and Shocking Vibes producer, Jamie “Young Vibes” Roberts. Additionally, there was speculation regarding Shocking Vibes possibly managing Popcaan, however, Roberts said that situation had yet to be settled.

D’Angel claims her “Goodies” caused Beenie Man-Bounty Killer feud in new song
Internationally acclaimed deejay, Michelle “D’Angel” Downer has fired the latest salvo in the recently re-ignited Beenie Man-Bounty Killer feud; claiming her “Goodies” is what’s caused the rivalry to re-emerge.
D’Angel unveiled her controversial new single “Good Good,” on Friday; produced by the self-titled record label, Good Good Productions. The song addresses Bounty & Beenie’s recent exchange of diss songs, suggesting that her loving has caused unnecessary tension between the two legendary artistes.
At the beginning of the song, D’Angel refers to herself as “The Ex,” before deejaying, “the other day I see two man a par, All of a sudden my goods make two man a war, and the two man are two mega stars, Is it me you really wanna blame? Better dont tek it too far.” Later in the song, D’Angel asks for Beenie & Bounty to take her name out of their feud before telling Bounty, “Yuh will only be a bitch, if you counteract this.”
D’Angel continues, “Di two man obsess over my good, from you good, you just good,” before addressing Bounty Killer again; telling him “I dont have to diss you to get a forward, you are the only bwoy that discriminate woman.” He then reminds Beenie Man that he’s her baby’s father & should be careful of what he says in public; asking he & the “War Lord” to show her respect going forward.
Bounty Killer & Beenie Man’s recent conflict started following comments that the “Grung Gaad” made regarding Beenie’s divorce from D’Angel. Bounty suggested that D’Angel was using Beenie for her own personal gain. This coming days after an interview where the “Doctor” implied that D’Angel’s decision to attend Bounty’s birthday party and not his was one of the deciding factors regarding their separation.
5 More Popular Dancehall and Reggae Artists Targeted By Jamaican Police
The recent murder charges slapped on Vybz Kartel has sent shock waves through the dancehall community worldwide. However, this could be the beginning of a take down of several prominent dancehall artists on the police radar.
Reliable sources in the police force told popular reporters that apart from Vybz Kartel, there are at least 5 more artists being investigated by the police for quite some time for various criminal acts.“There is an ongoing investigation of some popular artists for crimes ranging from murder, drug trafficking, arms trafficking to name a few,” the source said.
Although he declined to state any names, the source said the police intelligence unit will be hosting a press conference in the coming days where an official announcement will be made.
“At this time I cannot say any specific names, however, officers will brief the media at an upcoming press conference in Kingston,” the source disclosed. “Entertainers are not above the law and several of them are criminal masterminds.”
Kartel pleads not guilty
Dancehall deejay Vybz Kartel pleaded not guilty to possession of ganja and was remanded in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court yesterday.
However, his female companion Alecia Jackson, who was also charged with possession of ganja, pleaded guilty and was fined $500 or 30 days in prison.
The controversial deejay along with Jackson, Andre St John and Shane Williams were arrested on September 30 at a hotel in New Kingston.
It is reported that a small quantity of ganja was found and all four were arrested and charged for ganja possession.
One of Kartel’s three attorneys, Michael Deans, requested that the court drop the ganja charge against his client, but Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey rejected that request and ordered that the prosecution and defence discuss the matter and come to a decision.
Kartel is also being represented by attorneys Tom Tavares-Finson and Christian Tavares-Finson.
The case is to be mentioned on October 11.
Meanwhile, St John and Williams, the two other accused persons were not brought to court as the court was informed that they are wanted by the police for murder.
Reporters understands that Kartel, is to be brought back to court on October 13 for his first hearing into murder related charges.
On Monday, October 3, the artiste was charged with murder, conspiracy to murder and illegal possession of a firearm.
It is alleged that on Monday, July 11, 2011, Palmer along with other men conspired to murder Barrington ‘Bossie’ Burton , a 27-year-old businessman and promoter of a Gregory Park address in St Catherine.
Burton was murdered while he was standing with friends along Walkers Avenue in Gregory Park.
Dancehall Artiste NINJA MAN Legal Woes Continue!
“I don’t wish to continue the case” is what Ninja Man told the court yesterday in his case involving another inmate.
Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey told the veteran deejay that the decision was not his to make and that she had to see the medical first. All this stems from an incident where Ninja Man was reportedly “knocked unconscious” by an inmate at the Horizon Adult Remand Centre in Kingston.
Allegations are that on August 3, the deejay was walking to his cell when he was attacked. It was reported that he was hit in the head with a stone that the accused had concealed in a sock.
Ninja man is to return to court on October 19. The Veteran dancehall deejay has been behind bars since 2009. Ninja Man along with his son and two others are awaiting trial for murder.
